And it comes with a view.

I went to the hot springs once. It was really hot. Most people wussed out but I went into the hottest one eventually. I don't get it. Sure a warm bath feels good but just sitting and sweating with burning skin just hurts and I get bored. Not sure how its so great.

I hope you had a lovely day as I sure did. We visited friends and then explored a small mountain town. At 10K elevation, there was a bit of snow in the shade of trees. I hope you all enjoyed the hot springs. I stayed dry.

I did. Only about 8500' but some traces of snow in the shade. The Hot Springs were full of people. Do not like to sit shoulder to shoulder with people, so waded around between the legs and left.

Love those CO, mountain towns. Where did you go, if you don't mind revealing. Understandable if you do not. Fall is such a great time to go exploring.

I don't like shoulder to shoulder people either.........no matter what or where. Today we went to a couple of towns in Teller County, including Guffey, Victor and Cripple Creek. There's so much gold mining history in that area. It's just fun to drive around and walk around those old towns. Fun day. Now it's time for some TV and vino.

Been to Cripple Creek. My memory was that my carburated 72 Opel was so asphyxiated at the altitude that I had to have my 2 passengers and dog get out so I could get up a street. Funny, the stuff you remember.

I can imagine your poor Opel at that altitude. Poor thing. Were you in Cripple Creek before or after gambling was legalized there? I've been there quite a few times and played the slot machines. They are a lot of fun, and I was pretty lucky.

As much as I hate to say it (as it partially reveals my antiquity), It was in the late 80's. Now shush, you cannot reveal this to anyone. :)

My lips are sealed. ;D Gambling was legalized there in the early 90's (I just Googled), so it was a really sleepy town with not much going on when you were there. There are dozens of casinos now, but it still looks like an old mining town. Most of the casinos are refurbished buildings downtown and the couple of new casinos that have been built have the old look. I think it's probably a very wealthy town now.

I absolutely love the drive between Cripple Creek and the Springs (Manitou or Colorado, take your pick.) I've only ever done it in my Scion xA (my DD) but I'm itching to get something a bit more fun to throw around those turns. What would you suggest for it? (Caveat: I am intensely broke, so feel free to keep this in fantasyland. I might eventually be able to buy a used Miata if I can pay down a few bills.)

I'm a Fordfan, so I suggest a Mustang, but Miata is always a good answer!
